Administration

David Renninger, Principal

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!  I am excited about being back with the Mustang family this year.  I am originally from Northeast Pennsylvania but have lived in North Carolina since 2005.  I have been a part of the Hoke County Schools system since then. I served as a teacher at Rockfish Hoke Elementary until 2011.  I moved to Sandy Grove Elementary as an Assistant Principal until June 2019. My wife, who teaches kindergarten at Rockfish Hoke Elementary, and I have made Hoke County our home as we reside in the Rockfish area.

I look forward to partnering with the McLauchlin school community to ensure that each child's needs are met so they can achieve all of their dreams.  I see educators as master potters. As potters take clay, mold it, and shape it into a work of art that can be utilized for many purposes, educators are involved daily in shaping and forming children.  Through rigorous classroom instruction, practical strategies, and strong relationships, educators can provide children with the necessary competencies, problem-solving abilities, and social skills that will enable them to become influential, productive citizens and future leaders.  Each child has the potential to make a positive difference in our world and to help us solve the challenges of tomorrow.

I believe that collaboration between the school, the home, and the community is necessary for children to receive the highest educational experiences.  As we work together, we can establish a solid foundation upon which future learning can take place. The skills children acquire during their elementary years enable them to remain strong in the face of storms, adversity, and doubters they will encounter in the future.  Please contact us regarding opportunities if you want to volunteer on our campus to be a part of the educational process. I am sure you will get caught up in the excitement here on our campus.

I look forward to working with the McLauchlin school community this upcoming school year.  Thank you for entrusting me with your children's education and safety, as they are our campus members.  I look forward to meeting and working with you. Serving the McLauchlin Elementary community and Hoke County Schools is an honor.
